This simple recipe turns everyday apples into a beautiful, bakery-worthy treat.
Ingredients:
- 3 apples (pink lady, fuji)
- 3 eggs
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 Tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- BounceBox Rectangle 48oz
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 F
- Peel, core, and slice apples 1/8” thick. Cut slices in half.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and spices. Whisk together
- In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar thoroughly. Add in half of the dry mix and whisk to combine.
- Pour in the milk and whisk to combine. Add in the rest of the dry mix and whisk thoroughly, ensuring there are no lumps.
- Add the apple slices to the batter and mix to coat evenly
- Layer the apple slices in your rectangular BounceBox a few slices at a time. (They don’t need to be arranged perfectly, just make sure the layers are even.
- Arrange your final layer of slices in a shingle pattern and pour over the remaining batter
- Bake on the middle rack of your oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Remove gateau from the oven and allow to cool for about 20 minutes. The dessert needs this time for the pectin in the fruit to set fully.
- Enjoy plain or serve with caramel and powdered sugar!
